Blood Bank of Delmarva merges with New York Blood Center

The Blood Bank of Delmarva will merge with the New York Blood Center to create one of the largest blood centers in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

According to a press release from the Blood Bank of Delmarva, the merger will position the center to expand laboratory testing, participation in blood research, and services to its hospital network.

“This is an exceptional moment for our companies and the communities we serve,” said John Ferretti, CEO of BBD. “In today’s increasingly challenging and evolving blood banking environment it is imperative that like-minded organizations work together to improve access to safe blood products. This merger will ensure BBD’s long-term success in a challenging healthcare environment.”

The day-to-day operations at both companies will not be effected, and the companies will keep their names.
