MILTON — A new health care center is now open in Milton bringing at least 15 new jobs to the area as Beebe continues expanding its services north.
The Milton Health Center, located at 23900 Milton Ellendale Highway in the Jerry Ann McLamb Medical Pavilion, opened its doors this month with a myriad of services including primary care, imaging, labs and rehabilitation, as well as a walk-in care facility.
Chief of Staff and Chief of Strategy and Vice President Diane Taylor told the Delaware Business Times in a prepared statement that expansion is necessary as the area continues to grow.
“For lab and imaging, we are anticipating nearly 50,000 tests, annually. Additionally, we are growing the primary and walk-in care providers. We expect to see an additional 10,000 patients annually through primary care, walk-in and rehab services from this location. Milton has a population as of 2023 of approximately 20,000 people and nearly 50 percent of that population is age 60 and older, which typically means more healthcare services are needed,” she said.
The health care center is the fifth walk-in clinic for Beebe which also has urgent care facilities in Millville, Millsboro, Georgetown, Milford and Rehoboth Beach.
“Milton continues to attract new movers at a high rate in Sussex County, which is already one of the fast-growing regions on the East Coast. It’s critical to provide access to quality care that’s close to where people live, whether you have just moved or lived here your whole life,” she added. “We believe that patients shouldn’t have to drive to Georgetown or Lewes or Millsboro for simple appointments or sick visits. These kinds of facilities bring services to the community while also allowing us to bring more healthcare professionals to Sussex County.”
To celebrate its opening, Beebe Healthcare opened the doors to the new Milton facility Monday, Aug. 5 with nearly 200 visitors in the facility for tours and refreshments.
While the non-profit health care system brings new jobs in for this new venture, some care providers will transfer from other areas in the Beebe portfolio to ensure its success.
Dr. Maria Haldar and Diamond M. Micielli of Beebe Internal Medicine Milton located in Milton on Mulberry Street moved their former office to the new facility’s first floor where they will now run the primary care office.
The walk-in care center will also operate on the first floor of the building from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily and “. . . will care for common ailments that do not require emergency attention,” according to a press release from Beebe Healthcare.
The new imaging center will feature X-ray technology, as well as 3D mammography, bone density scans and ultrasound services. Laboratory services will be offered from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. Rehabilitation services will begin in early September.
“In one of the fastest growing areas of Sussex County, this new comprehensive Milton Health Center will greatly serve the community,” Beebe President and CEO David A. Tam said in the press release. “As Beebe continues to expand, safe and high-quality care for the people who live, work, and visit all of our beautifully diverse communities is at the center of our strategic plans. I’m thrilled for our care team in Milton and for the locals who can access Beebe services even more conveniently.”
