Share

Delaware Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart welcomed more than 120 professionals Tuesday to the Delaware Captive Insurance Association (DCIA) Fall Forum.

“Thank you for bringing your captives to Delaware,” the commissioner said. “Not only do we have state law that understands your business, we have a state legislature that understands it too.”

Stewart opened the second and final day of the annual meeting that brings professionals together to discuss captive insurance business. The two-day event at the Chase Center on the Riverfront featured panel discussions and presentations about the captive insurance business.

Captive insurer AWI, Inc. a subsidiary of American Water, was recognized today during the luncheon as Delaware’s 1,000th Captive.

Delaware’s captive industry has grown from very modest beginnings into one of the leaders in the captive world, with Delaware ranked No. 3. For more information about the captive insurance industry in Delaware, see a special supplement.
