Only one in ten Americans understand how banks make money, according to a survey of 1,000 banking customers by MeetBeam.com. One in three have no idea.
About 33 percent of Americans make less than .04 percent interest on their savings, and 10 percent make only .01 percent. And 41 percent have no idea how much their savings earn.
