An online version of The Alcoholic Beverage Server Training Course will be made available by a partnership of the Delaware Restaurant Association, the Office of the Alcoholic Beverage Control, and Delaware Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement.
The Office of Alcoholic Beverage Control mandates the training program for those who sell, handle and serve alcohol in Delaware.
Carrie Leishman, CEO of the Delaware Restaurant Association, said the industry has long requested an online version of the training.
“We have developed a convenient, mobile training option that is available 24/7,” she said. “This is an important step forward for our industry and will encourage even more people to earn their certification, leading to a safer and more informed service staff in Delaware.”
More than 9,000 restaurant industry workers receive certifications annually, but the industry employs nearly 50,000, and Leishman said she believes the online classes will lead more to get certification.
