AAA honors top Delaware hotels and restaurant with Diamond awards

AAA Mid-Atlantic has announced three hotels and one restaurant in Delaware that earned the 2016 Four or Five Diamond Award rating during the past 12 months.  The AAA Four and Five Diamond Ratings are the travel authority’s highest designations for hotels and restaurants.  The awards were presented at a luncheon held last week at The Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia.

“AAA Four and Five Diamond hotels and restaurants provide guests with a personalized experience and attentive service in comfortable, high quality surroundings,” said Jim Lardear, director of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “These establishments consistently exceed the expectations of the most discriminating traveler – the AAA inspector. We are proud to have these exceptional businesses in our region.”

AAA Four and Five Diamond hotels are refined and stylish with upscale physical attributes. They offer guests personalized attention and extensive amenities in a luxurious setting.  Restaurants at this rating level offer a distinctive fine dining experience, featuring highly creative chefs, complex menus, fresh top-quality ingredients and knowledgeable staff.

“Delaware is fortunate to have world-class accommodations and dining options all over the state,” said Linda Parkowski, Delaware Tourism Director. “The AAA four-diamond rating gives travelers an immediate indication of the high quality experience they will certainly have while in Delaware.”

Of note, The Green Room, the French restaurant within the Hotel du Pont, has received this honor for 31 consecutive years, since 1985 when AAA Five and Four Diamond ratings were first given to restaurants.

Establishments at the Four and Five Diamond rating levels make up just 3.8 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively, of the more than 58,000 AAA/CAA Approved hotels and restaurants. Across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, these select properties represent the upper echelon of the hospitality industry.
