$102M Datwyler building underway

MIDDLETOWN — Datwyler, a Swiss industrial supplier that plans to employ 100 people in Delaware, has broken ground on its new 222,000-square-foot building in Middletown.

Wohslen Construction Company will start construction this month, and the $102 million plant should be completed in time to start production in the third quarter of next year, the company said.

Datwyler makes rubber closures for caps, stoppers and syringes used in the injectable drug delivery systems.

The new multi-story office and processing facility will be a state-of-the-art plant with extensive automation, the first of its type in the country, the company said. Custom process equipment is being manufactured for installation.

Wohlsen, the company designing and building the plant, said the facility is being designed and constructed to allow for future expansion. Wohlsen is working with Beck Morgan for architectural and structural services and Concord Engineering for MEP services.
