Sussex County Economic Development office is sponsoring a two-day public workshop on writing a business marketing and PR plan, from 10 a.m. to noon, Jan. 5 and 6 at Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.

The workshop, Creating an Effective 2023 Marketing & PR Plan, is presented in partnership with two local communications firms: Hook PR & Marketing and Danika Communications.

Patricia Rivera, Hook founder, has earned a reputation of success with messaging and brand-building campaigns in multiple languages for nonprofits, foundations and purpose-driven businesses. Anne Ryan, Danika founder, has earned sterling credentials working with premier brands in luxury travel, hospitality, lifestyle, culinary and nonprofits for more than 20 years.

The interactive workshop is designed to help businesses develop or refine their 2023 marketing and PR plan by identifying their digital marketing strengths and weaknesses; finding target markets; learning how to create a personal connection through storytelling; and defining key performance indicators to measure progress.

Marketing is changing so quickly that leaders often struggle to decide on tactics, Rivera said.

“They end up pursuing shiny, new opportunities that may not meet their needs. This workshop aims to provide a strategic way to look at past marketing efforts and develop a thoughtful plan, based on goals and ideal clients,” Rivera, a Georgetown Chamber of Commerce member, said.

William F. Pfaff, director of Sussex County Economic Development, said local businesses and nonprofits play an essential role in maintaining the vitality of communities and downtown areas.

“Offering this training is part of our mission to help our businesses recover, thrive and succeed. Having two professional strategists provide the training workshop presents our local businesses with a wonderful opportunity to enhance their marketing strategies,” he added.

Hook and Danika have worked with a diverse range of businesses and organizations to build and expand loyalty with their customers.

The workshop is offered at Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, 827 E. Market St. The $300 cost includes light refreshments. To register, visit hookpr.com/2023workshop or call 302 858 5055. Space is limited.
