Ørsted announced Chris Bason will serve as stakeholder engagement lead in Delaware. Bason, a respected environmental voice in Delaware, will be responsible for developing and implementing external engagement strategies in support of Skipjack Wind and will represent Ørsted to local communities, businesses, and elected officials.
“During his successful tenure as a nonprofit executive, Chris consistently demonstrated a deep appreciation for the value of public engagement and community partnerships,” Brady Walker, Head of Government Affairs & Market Strategy for Maryland and Delaware, said. “Chris is an excellent choice to lead our Delaware efforts because he shares Ørsted’s commitment to translating Skipjack Wind’s economic and environmental benefits into tangible improvements for Delawareans.”
Prior to joining Ørsted, Bason served for 18 years with the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays in Sussex County. He served as the organization’s science coordinator, and then spent ten years as its Executive Director. During his tenure, the Center expanded greatly through successful policy achievements, environmental monitoring, ecological restoration, conservation, and fundraising. Chris led the Center’s development of a comprehensive State of the Bays report, revised the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan for the Inland Bays, developed legislation to launch Delaware’s shellfish aquaculture industry, and created successful initiatives for land conservation, reforestation, shoreline protection, and citizen-science participation.
A native of New Castle, Bason has lived in Ocean View since 2004 with his wife and two children. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Delaware and master’s degree in Biology from East Carolina University. Prior to joining the Center for the Inland Bays, Chris participated in wetlands research and management while working for The Nature Conservancy, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and East Carolina University.
Mia Burch has been named the 2022 Delaware REALTOR of the Year for outstanding service and positive impact to realtor organizations on the national, state, and local levels as well as the real estate industry and community.
Burch has been an active local and state board member, volunteering her time on efforts from mentoring new REALTORS to serving consumers and advocating for the industry. She has held numerous leadership positions at the New Castle County Board of REALTORS® including President, President-elect, and Vice President, and served on the Finance Committee. In 2021, Burch served as President of DAR and was instrumental in helping members and industry partners continue to navigate through the challenges of COVID-19. She also served on DAR’s Public Policy and By-laws Committees as well as the Strategic Planning Task Force.
At the national level, she serves on the NAR Member Policy and Jurisdiction Committee. Burch has earned numerous professional designations/certifications as well as recognition from her peers at Long & Foster, and was ranked 16th among Delaware agents in 2021 Real Trend/America’s Best.
Bayhealth welcomes Internal Medicine Physician Svetlana Polishchuk, MD.

Dr. Polishchuk comes to Bayhealth from Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, New York where she completed an internal medicine residency. She earned her medical degree after graduating summa cum laude from Russian National Research Medical University in Moscow.
Beebe Medical Group announces the appointment of Eman Mazloum, MD, to its Medical Staff. She is a family medicine physician who addresses a wide range of medical issues, including acute and chronic illnesses. In tandem, she focuses on preventive care and strategies to improve overall health and wellness for her patients. Dr. Mazloum treats patients age 5 and older.
Dr. Mazloum is a native of Lebanon, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at the American University of Beirut, and her medical degree from the LAU School of Medicine. She relocated to the United States in 2013 to pursue residency training, where she was eventually appointed chief resident, at the McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. Years later, she moved to Delaware, where she gained valuable experience as a family medicine physician at Tidal Health Nanticoke. She and her husband, Elayyan Ahmad, MD, an endocrinologist, both joined Beebe’s Medical Staff in 2022.
Dr. Mazloum is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). She is an active member of American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine. McConnell Johnson Real Estate appoints Gaby Indellini its new director of marketing and communications. With over a decade of experience in the downtown Wilmington market and a background in tourism and economic development, Indellini brings a wealth of local knowledge to the established MJRE team.
In her new position, Indellini will lead all marketing, communications, and branding efforts, handle community relations and act as the internal marketing consultant for The Chancery Market Food Hall, working alongside the internal marketing team at food hall operator Hospitality HQ.
Prior to working for MJRE, Indellini ran her own marketing consultancy with clients ranging from area nonprofits, local governments, and small businesses. She was named one of Delaware Business Times’ “40 Under 40” in 2016 and is a 2022 Women’s Business Center at True Access Capital Her Story Our History honoree. She holds a BA in Communications from DeSales University and is secretary of the Board of Directors of the Public Relations Society of America – Delaware Chapter.
The Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau, the destination marketing organization for New Castle County, has appointed three new members to its board of directors: Dee Durham, James F. Lardear, and James C. Williams.
Durham has served as a New Castle County Council member representing District 2 since 2018. In November 2022, she was elected to serve as President of Preservation Delaware. She served as the executive director of Preservation Delaware from 1995-2002, and then through 2010 was the executive director of S.A.V.E., a land use, conservation planning and transportation advocacy organization based in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Lardear is director of public and government affairs for AAA Club Alliance Inc., headquartered in Wilmington. Prior to joining AAA, he was the director of public relations at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Lardear is a former trustee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Greater Delaware Valley Chapter and former board vice president & Jefferson Volunteerism award winner at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware.
Williams is the small and minority business development manager for the City of Wilmington’s Mayor’s Office of Economic Development. He meets regularly with Wilmington business owners to help them overcome obstacles and solve challenges that stifle or slow their growth. Williams and the Office of Economic Development also support the city’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program, helping to increase access to procurement and contracting opportunities for small and minority owned businesses.
The Bureau has 27 total board seats. Seven are appointed by the Governor of Delaware, seven are appointed by the New Castle County Executive, and seven are appointed by the Mayor of Wilmington. The remaining six are appointed by the board itself. The director of the Delaware Tourism Office and the Bureau’s executive director are ex-officio members. Durham was appointed by the GWCVB board. Lardear was appointed by Governor Carney. Williams was appointed by Mayor Purzycki.
