Sarah ElShawarby, director of human resources at Goldey-Beacom College, has been named a recipient of the 2023-2024 Rising Star award presented by the Delaware ACE (American Council on Education) Women’s Network (DAWN).
The Rising Star award is presented to one person from each member institution. Criteria for the award includes a strong commitment to any aspect of higher education, community service and the promise of future leadership.
“Sarah is one of those individuals who can step into situations, calmly assess them and bring people together. When we named her director of human resources, I had no qualms whatsoever that she would have a tremendous, positive impact on our community and operations. And she has. She is effective, kind, caring, disciplined and a true asset to Goldey-Beacom.” GBC President Colleen Perry Keith said.
ElShawarby joined the College in 2019 and currently serves on several College committees including: Emergency Management and Safety, Faculty Rank Advancement and JEDI. She also co-chairs a Self-Study Working Group. ElShawarby holds a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting and Information Systems, both from Virginia Tech.
Artisans Bank announced the promotion of Colin Price, vice president commercial lending to senior vice president chief retail banking officer.
Price joined Artisans’ Bank’s Retail Branch Division in 2002 following a six-year career in retail department and store management with Giant Foods. Following twelve years of service and management within Artisans’ branch network, Price expanded his banking career experience by joining Artisans’ Commercial Lending Division as a credit analyst. In 2015 he was promoted to Commercial Relationship Banker responsible for all aspects of commercial banking and lending to local businesses in Delaware.

Price is an executive board member of the Builders and Remodelers Association of Delaware and an active member of the Central, Middletown, and New Castle County Chambers of Commerce. He resides in Middletown, Delaware with his wife and 3 children.
Bayhealth announced the addition of Vennis Lourdusamy, MD, to the Gastroenterology, Sussex Campus team and Internal Medicine Physician Abdul Muhaymin Siyal, MD, has joined the primary care clinicians team.
Dr. Lourdusamy joins Vineet Gudsoorkar, MD, and Shruti Patel, MD, in the practice which offers specialized care to diagnose and treat disorders of the digestive system and nearby organs.
“We’re pleased to bring Dr. Lourdusamy on board to help meet the growing demand for specialty care in Southern Delaware,” Bayhealth Vice President, Physician Services and Clinical Integration Lawrence Ward, MD, MPH, FACP, said. “He’s a talented physician with a personable bedside manner who will benefit many community members suffering with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract or needing a procedure such as an endoscopy or colonoscopy.”
Dr. Lourdusamy comes to Bayhealth from NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in Queens, New York where he completed fellowship training in gastroenterology. He previously did two other fellowships – one in hepatology at the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital and another in liver cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
He has a medical degree from Kilpauk Medical College in India and completed his internal medicine residency at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida.
After Dr. Siyal earned his medical degree from C.M.H. Lahore Medical College and Institute of Dentistry in Lahore, Pakistan, he came to the U.S. to complete the primary care track of the internal medicine residency program at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
“Through our continued efforts to bring more physicians to Delaware to serve the medical needs of our communities, we’re very pleased to have Dr. Siyal as the newest addition to our primary care team,” Bayhealth Vice President, Physician Services and Clinical Integration Lawrence Ward, MD, MPH, FACP, said. “Dr. Siyal is a highly skilled internal medicine physician who is passionate about providing preventative medicine and all other primary care services to strengthen the health of our community members.”
Prior to joining Bayhealth, Dr. Siyal spent three years working as a primary care physician in a new practice with Ascension Saint Agnes Health Center, serving patients in southwest Baltimore and surrounding neighborhoods. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Beebe Healthcare announced the addition of three new primary care and family medicine providers.
Erin Royal, MD, is a family medicine physician who sees patients at Beebe Family Practice King Street Row. She offers treatment for acute and chronic illnesses, as well as preventive care services. Dr. Royal is a valuable resource for women in the community as they aim to improve their overall health and wellness throughout the phases of their lifetimes. She provides contraception options and education, guidance on long-acting reversible contraception, and women’s preventive healthcare exams.
Dr. Royal is a graduate of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She went on to complete the ChristianaCare Family Medicine Residency Program, where she served in several leadership roles including Chief Resident, Recruitment Committee Chair, and Wellness Committee Chair. Dr. Royal is also a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies through the Medical Scholars Program.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Delaware Institute of Medical Education and Research, and the Delaware Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa’s Academic Honor Society.
Dr. Royal’s robust medical training gave her well-rounded and diverse clinical experience in adult and pediatric hospital settings, outpatient practices, nursing homes, and women’s health clinics. While pursuing her medical degree and family medicine residency training, Dr. Royal completed the American Academy of Family Physicians’ leadership program for chief medical residents, as well as the Achieving Competency Today (ACT) and Leadership Excellence Education (LEED-R) programs. Additionally, Dr. Royal was an active participant in several clinical research projects and served as a resident instructor for Thomas Jefferson University.
“It is a true honor to work for Beebe Healthcare, not only because of the excellent care provided to the community but also because this is where I was born,” Dr. Royal said. “I am excited to return to Sussex County and provide primary care services in the community that I care passionately about.”
Candace Conaway, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner who sees patients at Beebe Primary Care Millville, working with individuals across their lifespans to promote health and well-being. She treats acute injuries and illnesses and helps patients with the management of chronic health conditions.
Conaway is a graduate of the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing and obtained both her Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing degrees from Wilmington University. Additionally, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Salisbury University. She is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
Prior to joining Beebe, Conaway worked at both Atlantic General Hospital and TidalHealth on medical, surgical, and telemetry units. Additionally, she served as a relief charge nurse and precepted new hires. Conaway also worked as a case manager for Delaware Hospice, Inc.
“Seeing a great need for advanced practice nurses in the region’s rapidly expanding communities, I am excited to be a part of Beebe’s commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered, and holistic care,” Conaway said.
Stacy Thomas, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CPN, is a certified family nurse practitioner who works at Beebe Primary Care Long Neck. She provides comprehensive family medicine services for pediatric, adult, and
geriatric patients. In addition to assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients for a wide range of medical conditions, Thomas is a proven leader in disease management, case management, policy implementation, and quality improvement, while advocating for patient education and preventive health in the clinical care environment.
Thomas earned her Master of Science in Nursing and is currently in pursuit of her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University School of Nursing. Additionally, she is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Thomas is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Society of Pediatric Nurses, the Society of Air Force Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau.
A 23-year military veteran with a passion for working in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment, Thomas worked for more than 10 years as a clinical nurse for the United States Air Force. During her years in service, she worked in medical-surgical, pediatrics, and family health clinical environments, often serving as a team leader for other nurses and medical technicians.
“I am a native of the Eastern Shore and am grateful to have the opportunity to provide world-class healthcare to my hometown community,” Thomas said.
Kyle C. Rheiner, CIC, has been named as a principal shareholder of Arthur Hall. Rheiner began his career with Arthur Hall Insurance in 2020 as the food & beverage practice leader and commercial lines account executive.
“I could not be more pleased or excited for Kyle to join the Arthur Hall Insurance Shareholder Group,” James S. Denham, CPCU, CIC, president of Arthur Hall Insurance, said. “His experience and tremendous accomplishments within the commercial insurance space will undoubtedly enhance the current team which is already incredibly capable and diverse.”
Rheiner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from West Chester University, he also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation from The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
Currently residing in Thorndale, PA with his wife and two daughters, Kyle is a past President of the West Chester University Alumni Chester County Chapter, current Vice President of the Rotary Club of West Chester, a Leadership Chester County graduate and coaches his daughters’ basketball and lacrosse teams.
Santora CPA Group, a Newark-based accounting and consulting firm, announced Samantha G. Finfer has been promoted to trust administrator. She joined SCG’s Trust Services Team in June 2021 after interning during her senior year. She graduated cum laude from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance and a minor in tust management.
“Samantha joined us full-time in June of 2021 and has excelled in learning the trust administration business. She is an asset to our team and to the firm. Congratulations Samantha on your promotion and accomplishments over the last two years,” Theresa Hughes said.
Becker Morgan Group announced Benjamin Dealy, AIA, has earned his professional architecture license. He has met the requirements set out by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, including education, experience, and rigorous professional exams.
Benjamin Dealy, AIA, graduated from Marywood University, earning his Bachelor of Architecture. He joined the firm as an architectural designer in the Salisbury, MD office in 2017 and became Secretary of the AIA Maryland Chesapeake Bay Chapter in 2022. Ben has been a valuable member of the firm and has supported various project types, given his diverse and rich skill set.
Morris Nichols welcomed six attorneys to the firm.

Taylor A. Christensen served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Miller Johnston of the Superior Court of Delaware before joining Morris Nichols. Christensen earned his JD (2022) with honors from the Washington and Lee University School of Law; and BS (2015) in business management from the Brigham Young University, Marriott School of Business.
Christine K. Fletcher joins Morris Nichols’ Commercial Law Counseling group following a clerkship in the Superior Court of Delaware, where she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Vivian L. Medinilla. Her practice will encompass alternative entity counseling and commercial transactions. Fletcher earned her JD (2022) magna cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law, MS (2013) in social policy from the London School of Economics, MA (2012) in international studies from the University of Sydney, and LLB (2007) bachelor of laws from Yonsei University.
Avery J. Meng will practice in the firm’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring group. Prior to joining Morris Nichols, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Reneta L. Green-Streett of the Superior Court of Delaware. Meng earned her JD (2022) from the William & Mary Law School; and BA (2017) in history and a minor in political science from the University of Washington.
Echo Qian joins Morris Nichols’ Bankruptcy & Restructuring group from a prominent New York law firm where she was an associate focused on bankruptcy and finance. She earned her JD (2022) from Harvard Law School; and LLB (2019) from Nanjing Normal University.
Benjamin D. Smith joins Morris Nichols’ Corporate & Commercial Litigation group following a clerkship to the Honorable Denis P. Cohen of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. Smith earned his JD (2022) from the Boston College Law School; and BA (2019) in political science and legal studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
