Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic announces Robert McMurtrie, DO, MBA, FAOCA, CPE, has been appointed chief medical officer for Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital.

McMurtrie comes to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic from Tower Health, where he most recently served as vice president and chief medical officer at Phoenixville Hospital. His professional background also includes physician leadership positions at Reading Hospital, Tower Health Medical Group, and a variety of other health care organizations in Wilmington and throughout the greater Philadelphia region.

“I am thrilled about the expert guidance and positive energy that Dr. McMurtrie brings to our organization,” Chris Cullom, president of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital, said in a statement. “As a proven health care leader, Dr. McMurtrie has demonstrated the ability to make meaningful change in various areas, including population health, the patient experience, and physician satisfaction, while keeping a keen focus on data analytics for continuous process improvement.”

McMurtrie received a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience, with a minor in Education, at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received a Master of Business Administration degree with dual concentrations in Healthcare Management and Operations Management at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa.

McMurtrie completed his residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pain Management at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, was inducted as a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists, and earned the Certified Physician Executive credential from the American Association of Physician Leaders. Bayhealth announces Urologist/Urogynecologist Ray Bologna, MD, MBA, is the newest addition to the Bayhealth Urology, Sussex Campus team.

 “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Bologna. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most respected health systems worldwide,” Bayhealth Vice President, Physician Services and Clinical Integration Lawrence Ward, MD, MPH, FACP, said. “As a urogynecology expert, he’s helped thousands of women with pelvic health disorders find relief and a better quality of life. It’s estimated that about one third of women will experience this type of disorder in their lifetime, and we’re very glad Dr. Bologna is here to provide specialized, compassionate care close to home for our community members.” 

Prior to joining Bayhealth, Dr. Bologna was employed by the Glickman Urologic and Kidney Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He was the chairman of the Department of Urology and program director for the Urology Residency Program at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. He also was chairman and clinical professor for the Department of Urology at Northeast Ohio Medical University. 

 Dr. Bologna is a graduate of Northeast Ohio Medical University, where he also completed his urology residency. He went on to complete a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive pelvic surgery at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, and completed an additional fellowship in female urology and voiding dysfunction at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. 

He has numerous professional accolades, including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Elite Patient Service Physician Award from Summa Health System, and two Teacher of the Year honors from the Department of Urology. 


Nemours Children’s Health name pediatric cardiologist Russell Cross, MD, as Delaware Cardiology Program outreach medical director. In this role, Dr. Cross will treat cardiology patients at Nemours Children’s Cardiac Center, and Nemours Children’s Milford and Wilmington locations, while growing the network of cardiac subspecialties Nemours serves in Southern Delaware.

Dr. Cross is a nationally recognized expert in advanced imaging for cardiac patients with more than two decades of experience. Prior to joining Nemours, Dr. Cross served as an attending pediatric cardiologist at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he supervised inpatient cardiology, cardiac MRI/CT, and quality and outcome programs, and as Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine.

“With the addition of Dr. Cross to the cardiology team, Nemours Children’s Health will expand opportunities for families to seek excellent subspecialty care closer to where they live,” Shubhika Srivastava, MD, chief of Cardiology and co-director of Nemours Children’s Cardiac Center, said. “Our specialists are dedicated experts in early accurate diagnosis – fetus through adult, complex care , transplant and interventional and electrophysiology procedures.”

Dr. Cross earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical School. He soon realized that his interest was in clinical care, and returned to UT Southwestern Medical School to earn his medical degree, followed by a residency in pediatrics at UT Medical School at Houston.

“My rotation in general pediatrics began with pediatric cardiology, and I instantly knew this is what I wanted to do,” Dr. Cross said. “At Nemours, I am looking forward to reaching more and more families and finding ways to provide state-of-the-art subspecialty outpatient care in smaller communities, not just larger cities.”

Dr. Cross has published numerous articles in medical journals on congenital heart disease, cardiac echocardiography, findings of SARS CoV-3 associated multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), X-ray fused MRI guidance of transcatheter interventions, and cardiac MRI to advance care of patients with congenital and acquired pediatric heart disease.


YWCA Delaware announces Melissa Gonville as the organization’s new CEO, succeeding Stephanie Staats after 17 years of transformative leadership. 

A member of YWCA’s board from 2009 – 2014, with more than 26 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, she recently held roles in Operations, Marketing, Data Management, and Technology. 

In her most recent role as Managing Director and Business Operations Executive at JPMorgan Chase & Co., Gonville led a global team of over 50 project managers, product owners, and business analysts who delivered a wide range of tax-related programs and projects, from regulatory and governance to automation, transformation, and a multi-year digitization program to improve accuracy and efficiency. She has led multiple business resource groups, developed successful mentoring programs that cultivated women to excel in their careers, and created and implemented the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) strategy for Client Tax Operations. 

 Gonville holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Finance from UMASS Amherst. She has served YWCA Delaware’s Finance and Fund Development committees and helped launch several fundraising events at YWCA Delaware, including the Evening of Style event.

Katie Sherman was recently promoted to the position of general manager of Northeast Seafood Kitchen in Ocean View, Delaware. The Ohio native has been a resident of the coastal Delaware town for more than 15 years.

“I’ve witnessed the incredible growth in the Bethany Beach-Ocean View area, and NorthEast Seafood Kitchen helped pave the way west of Route 1,” Sherman said. “It’s an OG restaurant that keeps things fresh, and we have a loyal customer base of locals and visitors.”

A hospitality veteran, Sherman worked the front desk at the Hotel Rodney in Lewes before entering the coastal restaurant industry. She’s been a server, bartender and bar manager. In 2015, Sherman joined the opening team at Crust & Craft, located in the Midway area between Lewes and Rehoboth. Both Crust & Craft and Northeast Seafood Kitchen are part of SoDel Concepts.
