Nonprofit Support Fund applications re-open Oct. 4

Share

WILMINGTON – The Delaware Nonprofit Support Program will open applications for a fourth round of funding for eligible nonprofits on October 4, 2021. The grant program is exclusive to nonprofits, leverages Federal CARES Act funding and is made possible through the COVID-19 Response Initiative, a partnership between DANA, the Delaware Community Foundation, Philanthropy Delaware and the United Way of Delaware. These grants are non-competitive and compliance based. All nonprofits that meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.

The maximum cap for qualified expenses per organization is $150,000. Any nonprofit, regardless of operating budget size, is eligible to apply for up to $150,000 in reimbursement if they have qualified expenses that have not yet been reimbursed.

The Delaware Nonprofit Support Program has two grant opportunities: Part I and Part II. To be eligible for the program, an organization must be a Delaware 501c3, or a 501c3 that provides services in the state of Delaware. Part I is designed to reimburse Delaware nonprofits for allowable COVID-19 expenses. Part II assists nonprofits with incremental expenses related to increasing service demand. For both Part I and Part II, expenses must have been incurred between January 1, 2021, and July 12, 2021.  This timeframe coincides with the conclusion of the previous rounds of the Nonprofit Support Program and Delaware’s end of the State of Emergency. Nonprofits that meet the eligibility requirement for Parts I and II are encouraged to apply for both.

The Delaware Nonprofit Support Program consists of a government/nonprofit/philanthropy partnership to bring $25 Million of funding to the nonprofit sector in Delaware through the Federal CARES Act. The partners include the State of Delaware, New Castle County, the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, The Delaware Community Foundation, Philanthropy Delaware, and United Way of Delaware. The program consists of two grants – known as Part I and Part II – which are compliance-based, noncompetitive, and have measures in place to ensure equity among nonprofits of various sizes. The fourth round of funding will open on October 4, 2021, at 8:00AM and will remain open through November 1, 2021, at 12:00 P.M. Qualification criteria and applications can be accessed through decaresfunds.org

  • Part I is specifically for the reimbursement of operational expenses incurred because of COVID-19, such as PPE and technology. This fund will be managed by United Way of Delaware.
  • Part II recognizes that many nonprofits saw an increase in caseloads due to the pandemic; this grant addresses the incremental costs associated with those increased service levels. This fund will be administered by the Delaware Community Foundation.

DANA and its collaborative partners encourage nonprofits to visit the Delaware CARES Act funding web portal (www.decaresfunds.org) for more information about the enhancements for this round of funding. Any nonprofits that need hands-on technical assistance in preparing an application or have additional questions, should contact DANA directly at decaresfunds@delawarenonprofit.org or click the “Contact Us” button on the web portal.
