Marijuana commissioner to begin accepting applications Aug. 19

The Office of Marijuana Commissioner (OMC) will begin accepting online applications starting Monday, August 19, 2024, and closing on Monday, September 30, 2024. In total, only 125 licenses are available for cultivation, manufacturing, retail, and testing.

The new era of Delaware cannabis is on the horizon and Rob Coupe, the state’s first Marijuana Commissioner says he’s ready for the challenge.

Marijuana Cultivation Facility- 60
LT-1: Open Cultivation License: 20
LT-2: Social Equity Cultivation (≥2500 ft2): 10
LT-3: Microbusiness Cultivation: 20
LT-11: Social Equity Cultivation (≤2500 ft2): 10

Marijuana Product Manufacturing Facility- 30
LT-4: Open Manufacturing: 10
LT-5: Social Equity Manufacturing: 10
LT-6: Microbusiness Manufacturing: 10

Retail Marijuana Store – 30
LT-7: Open Retail License: 15
LT-8: Social Equity Retail License: 15

Marijuana Testing Facility – 5
LT-9: Open Testing Facility: 3
LT-10: Social Equity Testing Facility: 2

Eligible applications will be entered into a lottery overseen by the Commissioner, with the lottery scheduled for late October 2024. Licenses will be issued beginning in November 2024.

To assist applicants in completing their applications, the OMC has developed detailed guidance including a document matrix and application templates, these resources will be posted at OMC.delaware.gov before the opening of the application process.
