WILMINGTON – Highmark Delaware donated $1.4 million in Q3 through its BluePrints for the Community initiative. These grants fund efforts to expand healthcare access, enhance youth mental health, train healthcare professionals, and address social determinants of health.
The funded organizations include ChristianaCare, the United Way, the Delaware Medical Education Foundation, and several others focused on improving community well-being. This brings the total investment from the Highmark Delaware Fund to over $38 million since 2007.

Rec ‘N’ Respite Program
– Supporting children in foster care, who have likely experienced trauma through a holistic, innovative play-based therapy.-
A Better Chance for Our Children completed their new playground designed specifically to support the healing and emotional well-being of children who have experienced foster care and are now adjusting in their adoptive families. The play space is a safe haven for kids to play, connect, and heal through physical activities and interaction with peers. With consultation from experts in the field, the space offers various forms of therapeutic play, fostering social skills and providing an outlet for emotional expression.

The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Chill Project | $40,000
The AHN Chill Room
– Two school adoption of mindfulness practices and evidence-based coping strategies. The AHN Chill Room will reduce stress, improve student emotional intelligence and reduce out-of-class time and disciplinary infractions across the two schools served. -
United Way of Delaware Inc. | $45,000
Kent Co. Outreach Program, Boots on the Ground
– Focuses on serving the uninsured and underinsured in Kent County, DE with vaccinations, especially among black and Hispanic communities.
