Goldey-Beacom College transitions to fully online instruction

Wilmington – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) announced that all undergraduate classes are now online. Graduate and doctoral classes are already 100 percent online.

“Although we optimistically planned for the return of our students to the classroom this fall,” said Dr. Colleen Perry Keith in a statement, “we have been ready for this abrupt change.”

Until today, the College planned to use a hybrid format. Over the last several months, the leadership team has been developing a contingency plan for multiple scenarios. At this time, prevailing conditions dictated an immediate transition to online instruction. Dr. Keith assured the College community saying, “This is not a last-minute scramble, but rather a sad concession to the inevitable reality of the times, and we are prepared to meet it with the same level of integrity we would have brought to the hybrid class format.”

The College’s first priority is to protect its students and employees. Fall classes will begin online Monday, August 24, 2020. On-campus housing for residential students is suspended for the fall semester. Move-In Weekend, scheduled for August 21-23, is cancelled.
