Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS® and the Trident Group’s Fox & Roach/Trident Charities’ participated in the 2nd annual Delaware Backpack-A-Thon at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.
In addition to the donations of money and school supplies, Fox & Roach employees and sales associates filled 15,000 backpacks in three hours. The 18th Annual Backpack Challenge, held from July 24- August 4, 2023 is a two-week long effort to raise $100,000 and donate backpacks full of school supplies to local children.
“We’re absolutely thrilled all 15,000 backpacks were packed and distributed ensuring that thousands of kids in the Wilmington region will be equipped and ready to learn on their first day of school for the 2023-2024 year,” Molly Boyd, associate director of Corporate Engagement with Cradles to Crayons, said in a statement.
The 15,000 backpacks will be distributed to local organizations, including Children and Families First, Communities in Schools – Delaware, First State Community Action Agency, Friendship House – Delaware, Hispanic American Association of Delaware, the YMCA, numerous charter schools, and more.
“The company’s continued level of compassion, caring and giving back to children from unhoused or low-income families is truly inspiring,” Kassie Erb, president, Fox & Roach/Trident Charities, said. “We continue to provide basic school supplies and backpacks so these children have a real chance to learn and succeed,” she adds.
At the conclusion of the 2023 Backpack Challenge, backpacks will be distributed to children through 240+ area social services agency partners, including Cradles to Crayons, in Philadelphia; HomeFront in Central New Jersey, Department of Children and Families, Bucks County Children and Youth, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal and Northern New Jersey, Hispanic Family Center of Southern NJ, Chester County Intermediate Unit, Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City and Community Bike Works in the Lehigh Valley, Boys and Girls Club of Delaware to name a few.
