Brandywine Treasure Trail kick off passport season

The Brandywine Treasure Trail Passport is a one-time price for 12 attractions in the region. The passport is now on sale at all participating attractions and is available as a digital version on the passport webpage.
An individual passport costs $49 and the family passport costs $99, covering two adults and up to three kids ages 17 and under. The passes can be used any time over the course of Passport Season, from May 27 through October 31. Visitors can visit each attraction one time at their own pace over the course of the five months.
With the passport, visitors can experience all of this:
Brandywine River Museum of Art
From May 28 through September 5, visitors can view “Gatecrashers: The Rise of the Self-Taught Artist in America,” with works by painters like Horace Pippin, Anna Mary Robertson “Grandma” Moses, and John Kane.
Delaware Art Museum
From June 25 through September 11, “Stan Smokler: Steel in Flux” will be on display. The welded steel sculptures in this exhibit are constructed using abandoned objects and the work ranges from the late 1970s to 2020.
The Delaware Contemporary
From June 10 to August 21, this museum will partner with the Delaware Children’s Museum to host the special exhibition, “Play,” which explores the role of play in cognitive growth.
Delaware History Museum
At the museum visitors will find the Jane and Littleton Mitchell Center for African American Heritage and the “Journey to Freedom” exhibition, which tells the story of the African American experience in Delaware.
Delaware Museum of Nature and Science
After being closed for renovations for the past two years, the museum will reopen its doors on May 23. Visitors can explore science and nature with interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that take them from prehistoric era to modern day.
Hagley Museum and Library
The story of the famed du Pont family begins at Hagley, making this an attraction that can’t be missed. The long-awaited permanent “Nation of Inventors” exhibit will open to the public on June 1 to feature the second-largest collection of patent models in the world behind only the Smithsonian.
Longwood Gardens
From June 30 through October 30, guests can see “Light: Installations by Bruce Munro,” which includes a luminous Field of Light with 18,000 illuminated bulbs that adorn the landscape of the gardens.
Mt. Cuba Center
Visitors can walk two miles of scenic trails that offer the opportunity to spot and learn about Appalachian Piedmont flora and fauna in their natural environment.
Nemours Estate
This former du Pont mansion has the largest formal French gardens in North America, modeled after similar gardens in Versailles. The estate has a recently expanded trail system perfect for exploring the wooded grounds.
Read House & Gardens
This National Historic Landmark is situated in Historic New Castle and is displaying a brand-new interior tour that reveals aspects of the history hidden in the architecture and furnishings of this 14,000-square-foot mansion.
Rockwood Park & Museum
Rockwood’s Gothic Revival architecture and enchanting landscape were designed to reflect the beauty of an English country estate. Visitors can enjoy either a guided or self-guided tour of the museum and its six-acre Heritage Garden.
Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library
This former du Pont family home features American antiques and decorative arts, as well as more than 1,000 acres of explorable grounds. From May 7 through January 8 (past the time the passport expires), the featured exhibit is “Jacqueline Kennedy and Henry Francis du Pont: From Winterthur to the White House,” which focuses on the unusual partnership between the youngest First Lady in American history and a reserved octogenarian collector from Delaware, Henry Francis du Pont of Winterthur.
