WILMINGTON – Delaware chef Antimo DiMeo has once again been overlooked for the James Beard Foundation’s Best Mid-Atlantic Chef awards.
Earlier this year, the Bardea Food & Drink chef was named the state’s only James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Chef. This marked the third semifinalist nomination for Bardea and the second overall for DiMeo.
The James Beard Awards celebrate outstanding talent and achievement in the food and beverage industries. Recognized as one of the highest honors for American chefs, the awards highlight excellence and innovation in the field.
Matthew Kern was named the first and only Delaware chef to be a finalist in the Mid-Atlantic region last year. The owner of One Coastal restaurant attributed his nomination to the support of his wife and staff.
The Bardea Food & Drink co-owner continues to have his plate full after opening a new restaurant, Casa Nonna, in February, as a tribute to his grandmothers, Maria and Italia. The full-service Italian restaurant and bar, located in the DE.CO Food Hall, features classic Italian dishes like Margherita pizza and rigatoni.
The restaurant group has plans to open its eight restaurant, Roost Rub & Kitchen, on Market Street earlier this year according to their website.
