Director of Human Resources

Company: Mount Cuba Center (Hockessin)

What initiatives or processes have you or your team introduced?

I began at Mount Cuba in an operations role, focusing on compliance and general maintenance of HR programs.

The success of these HR programs comes from acting in pure partnership with our staff and leadership. We’ve:

Completed a five-year human capital strategic plan for the organization.

Created a new core values system, coupled with a reward and recognition program to reinforce it.

Created a compensation structure and aligned it competitively to the market.

Completed a strategic workforce planning project to better align staff growth and organizational structure with our strategic goals.

Made progress on programs that address various areas of compliance

Added a recruitment role and function to the organization.

The News Journal named us a Top Workplace this year, which we feel it is a direct reflection of our HR initiatives. We’ve also done a lot of work to make work-life effectiveness a priority because we think it’s important in retaining staff and keeping them happy and engaged.
