The Mill is a co-working space, providing working space to entrepreneurs, startups, and small companies. We have membership levels for all size companies. Our members use the space to spearhead workshops, classes, and meetings. We make sure all of our members are comfortable by supplying desks and chairs for offices, free wifi, free pantry access and complimentary coffee.

What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced over the past three years, and how did you overcome them? In the beginning there was a little opposition from the Wilmington Community. Some people didn’t believe that the idea would work and that there wasn’t a need for another co-working space. Robert definitely persevered through all of the negativity to eventually open The Mill which ended up being a great sucess in each phase that it opened. 

Looking back, what’s the biggest mistake you made and what would you do differently if you could? Underestimating how quickly the first phase would pack out. Had we known how positive the reception would be from the start, we could have hurried expansion even more.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned over the past three years? Sitting down over coffee or lunch with people you admire and want to do business with is a great way to form a relationship. Cultivating that relationship without the pressure of an ask is crucial to future success when something does turn up that someone in your network could assist with.
