CGC Consulting LLC and its subsidiaries provide consulting engineering services, geotechnical environmental drilling and sampling. We serve a range of public, private, industrial and commercial clients throughout the region. Core services of our firms include geotechnical, environmental, civil and water/wastewater engineering, as well as construction testing services and soils and concrete testing. 

What have been the biggest factors that contributed to your company’s growth over the past three years? The acquisition of our subsidiaries, Duffield Associates and CGC Geoservices, LLC, which has allowed us to expand our service offerings and the regions in which we operate. Becoming a certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise has also presented many opportunities for us to grow in certain market sectors.

What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced over the past three years, and how did you overcome them? As with many businesses in the region, the business climate had been difficult for consulting engineering practices due to limited economic opportunity and competition for this work. As the economy has recovered, CGCC has worked to be become diverse through targeted hiring and acquisition. 

Looking back, what’s the biggest mistake you made and what would you do differently if you could? Finding enough staff to accomodate our growing backlog of work. Based on discussions with many other firms, we are not alone in this struggle. Looking back, we should have brought on more staff more quickly as we were growing, assuming that we were able to find the right people to fit our team and our culture.
