Alan Glazar always said that it doesn’t matter if you’re related to the people you work with, it only matters if everyone does their job. Now his son, Aaron Glazar, is carrying on that work ethic while also making sure his father’s business legacy continues to value its staff and community alike.
“When I look at the team of people that we have, whether they be related by family or related by business, I know I’m fortunate because I get to the opportunity to be surrounded by a group of people who care,” said Aaron Glazar, president and CEO of Action Unlimited Resources, which provides facility and janitorial supply services to the Mid-Atlantic region.
After serving in the Marine Corps and being wounded in Vietnam, founder Alan Glazar took a janitor job that grew into a sales position that he excelled in. Soon, he was scooped up by another company and rose through the ranks before going out on his own and founding Action Paper & Chemical Co. in 1982.
Now, Aaron operates the family-owned business called Action Unlimited Resources. Like his father, he also started as a custodian before working his way up to the C-Suite in 2010.
Since he took over, the company’s revenue has grown by 350%, and in 2021 the company was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. Action Unlimited serves customers in four states, and also provides in-house training for customers and staff.
In addition to the founder’s son, three other family members are part of the company’s staff: Chad Cooper, John Dietz and Wayne Dippold. Action Unlimited also prioritizes being an active part of the community, offering an employee volunteer program and offering aid to countless organizations benefiting veterans, local community groups and special causes, often anonymously.
This upcoming spring the company will celebrate its 40th anniversary, as staff reflect on a family’s journey that began in a two-car garage in Newport to today’s 30,000-square-foot warehouse and storefront.
“We’ve been around for almost 40 years, and when people give us the opportunity to show them what value we can bring to their business, they’re usually not disappointed,” Aaron said. “We usually end up with a long-term customer. We just make it easier.”
