Schlosser & Associates Mechanical Contractors

Schlosser & Associates is a second-generation company celebrating its 65th year in business. It is continuing its long heritage established by founder Paul Schlosser Sr. with residential plumbing, heating, and air conditioning installation and service. The company also engages in commercial plumbing, heating, air conditioning, site utility, mechanical piping systems and process piping systems.
President Steve Dennis and wife Garnet (daughter of founder Paul Schlosser) joined the business 27 years ago, shortly after the birth of their first son Zach in Charlotte, North Carolina. Steve began working in the field and became service manager in 2000, working in that capacity until 2012 when Paul Jr.’s illness made it impossible for him to continue working. With the passing of Paul Jr. in May 2013, Steve became president. Garnet returned to the business after raising the couple’s four children and provides Schlosser’s with a connection to the past, to her father’s and brother’s dedication to customers and employees.
Garnet and Steve Dennis make up the Schlosser board and decisions are typically made with one primary objective: What is the best thing for our “Schlosser & Associates” business family? How do decisions affect not only our immediate family but all of the families of our associates? We have 45 families that depend on our success and it is important to us that this is achieved.
Dennis says the business relies heavily on each manager to treat his or her position and department as if they own the business. Parameters are in place so they understand what the desired outcome from ownership is, and leadership trusts associates to do the right thing for customers, the business, themselves, and their own families.
“We have found that one of the greatest compliments that you can pay to an employee is to ask them what they think,” says Steve Dennis.

Fun fact:
During the early years of operation, the business phone rang in the shop office as well as the family kitchen. All the children would answer the phone after hours and on weekend and take messages pertaining to the business.
