Workplace: Duane Morris LLP
Age: 38
For Rebecca Guzman, whether she’s focusing on pro bono work on wills or helping a biopharmaceutical company through financing transactions, she exemplifies what it takes to be well-versed in Delaware legal matters.
Guzman is a partner at Duane Morris LLP, where she represents startup companies, predominantly in the life sciences field, from formation through liquidity. She also represents prominent venture capital funds and institutional investors, and since 2021 has served as vice chair of the mergers and acquisitions division at the firm. She regularly advises on a wide array of corporate and alternative entity law topics.
She was promoted to partner in July 2022 after joining the firm in January 2021. Over the last 18 months, Guzman has also been named one of the “Most Effective Dealmakers” by legal industry publications.
Last year, Guzman started a four-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Bar Foundation, which has raised millions to provide legal services for the underserved, and she serves on the Board of Trustees of Universal Health Realty Income Trust. She’s also been actively engaged in pro-bono work, including through the firm’s wills clinic. Outside of the office, the mother of two loves adventurous travel, from shark diving in South Africa to spotting Komodo dragons in Indonesia, and exploring different cultures.
