Meghan Quinn quite literally attributes her career in hairstyling to saving her life.
While battling addiction, she got a job at a local salon as a shampoo tech and fell in love with the industry. Quinn passed her state licensing exams while still homeless and got a job at the high-end Salon by Dominic, where she was mentored by its owner and shown how to become a leader. She’s worked hard through the years, becoming a certified Redken master stylist and precision hair cutter, and a certified master of balayage colorist.
Within her first year of sobriety, Quinn had won her first Best of Delaware: Best Hairstylist Award, an honor she has won another five times along with other accolades.
Then in November 2020, she took a leap of faith and opened her own four-chair Hockessin salon, Localluv. Within a year of opening, it was voted the best salon for women in Delaware.
With so much success, Quinn has taken joy in giving back to the community, working with Shawn’s House, Limen House, Motorcycle Santa and the St. Elizabeth School, among other organizations. Her salon picks an organization to donate to or work with every other month throughout the year.
The mother of two young girls said that she wants her life story to be proof that you shouldn’t ever give up on yourself, even in your darkest times.
