As the director of communications at the University’s College of Health Sciences, she’s made it a priority to promote digital, social and multimedia strategies that engage and interact with everyone impacted by the college’s mission to train the next generation of health professionals, from parents and students to faculty and staff to members of the community. The Pennsylvania native leads strategic communication and marketing efforts for seven academic departments as well as four community-facing clinics.
She began her career with the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families where she helped develop a child abuse awareness and education campaign. She also led social media management for former Gov. Jack Markell, and subsequently served as his press secretary. Before joining UD in spring of 2020, she was the communications manager for the city of Newark and senior communications manager at ChristinaCare.
When she’s off the clock, Bachman devotes her time and energy to teaching her daughter and son how to be their own best advocates, to stand up for what they believe in and to make sure their voices and opinions are heard and valued. She makes it a priority to model strong work ethic and dependability, and credits her family, colleagues and friends for supporting her convictions.
