Workplace: Veery Capital
Age: 36
Kathleen Simolike started at Wilmington investment firm Veery Capital 13 years ago as an intern, and today she is one of its four partners.
While finance is often a male-dominated industry, Simolike has strove to be a positive role model for other women in the field. At Veery, she designed and built workflows to service clients more effectively and efficiently, and guided the firm and clients through two broker dealer changes. Since she joined, the firm’s assets under management have grown nearly tenfold to more than $310 million.
Simolike manages the individual client service branch of the firm that includes nearly 250 households, holding review meetings and managing their financial plans to meet their needs. She was also the first woman at the firm to earn a certified financial planner (CFP) designation that required a significant investment of time and hard work.
Inspired by her mother’s own diagnosis, Simolike, her sisters and mother completed the Susan G Koman 60-mile three-day Walk for Breast Cancer in 2014, raising more than $11,500 for lifesaving breast cancer research. She has also helped organize the Veery’s annual client event in partnership with Rise Against Hunger, which puts together and packages more than 10,000 meals per year that are shipped to families in need.
The new mom spends a lot of time with her son, but can also be found running, having completed several half marathons over the past few years.
