Promoting ChristianaCare’s mission to improve the health of Delawareans is a task that requires daily attention, especially in today’s digital world. As the social media specialist for one of the state’s largest nonprofit health care systems, Karen Halesky-Brown makes it her personal mission to always be on-brand for the organizations’ 120,000-plus social media followers.
Halesky-Brown, a Clarion University graduate, joined ChristianaCare in August 2017 and has since seen the health care system’s social media team, which she has been part of, grow to need additional staff members. Halesky-Brown is the strategist behind the brand’s paid ad campaigns as well as its engaging Facebook live sessions that are held regularly to provide even more ways for people to connect with health experts.
In her role, the Newark resident and social media guru also fields social media requests from other ChristianaCare team members and takes photos and videos to be posted on social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Before joining ChristianaCare, she worked as a marketing coordinator for Union Park Automotive Group, as well as a sales administrator, marketing administrator and manager and customer care representative for several other businesses.
She recently helped organize a community service day with her team to benefit the Delaware Humane Association in Wilmington. In her free time, the car enthusiast who is a member of a local BMW car club enjoys going to car shows and working on vehicles with her husband who owns his own automotive shop. They enjoy cars so much they even had a small car show at their recent wedding held this past October. She also enjoys yoga, pilates and researching the latest in skincare and makeup trends.
