John Gillespie III, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with his own practice, has dedicated his life to helping others and aimed to lead the way in Delaware in breast cancer reconstruction and aesthetic surgery.
Since starting his own practice in Wilmington, Gillespie has also educated the bariatric and weight loss community to help improve their journeys.
As a professional, he’s been recognized as a top doctor in his field, provided lectures and participates as a teaching faculty at Christiana Care Health System, contributed to multiple publications, speaking events and conferences, and is an active member of several local and national professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Medical Society of Delaware.
Gillespie received his doctorate of medicine from St. George’s University in the West Indies and completed his residency at Christiana Care, followed by a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Temple University in Philadelphia. He holds a medical license in both Delaware and Pennsylvania.
The father of two made sure his patients received continuous care during the COVID-19 pandemic, both in his office and in hospital and emergency settings, and has hosted fundraisers to benefit the American Heart Association and the Trauma Survivors Foundation.
