Title: Assistant City Solicitor
Workplace: City of Wilmington Law Department
Age: 33
Jocelyn Pugh always thought her life’s work would be to advocate for others – but she never imagined she’d do it in Delaware.
She has used her voice to advocate for hundreds of clients as she worked in areas of law like commercial litigation, personal injury, worker’s compensation, employment and labor, contract law and more. In 2020 and 2021, Pugh also served as co-counsel on two appeals that were heard before the Delaware Supreme Court – both of which she won.
Today, Pugh serves as the attorney in the Wilmington Law Department, where she advises the mayor, city council and all city departments. She and her colleagues handle various matters like employment, civil rights, property and contract law as well as preparing legislation and contracts on behalf of the city.
Pugh considers community service to be part of her core being and has volunteered and donated to the Delaware Food Bank, Goodwill, American Red Cross, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and American Diabetes Foundation. She currently sits on the board of directors for the Challenge Program, a nonprofit that provides vocational training to at-risk youth.
She has also founded a commercial and residential cleaning business called ShiningPro Cleaning Services amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
