DBT40 Honoree: Jason McCall

Title: Caseworker & Field Representative
Workplace: U.S. House of Representatives Office for Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester
Age: 37
When you’re an elected official, a lot of people want to talk to and collaborate with you. When you’re a federal elected official, and Delaware’s only representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, those numbers multiply quickly.
That’s when U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester turns to Jason McCall, who resolves cases with federal agencies and acts as a liaison for constituents in the congresswoman’s office.
McCall was previously working in corporate America but wanted to serve the youth and his community. He first became a behavioral interventionist in the Colonial School District but was forced to pivot during the pandemic to become a Public Allies Delaware cohort member at West End Neighborhood House in Wilmington. While there, he oversaw three COVID vaccination clinics, the groundbreaking of a new foster care facility and a program that supported local restaurants and front-line workers. Blunt Rochester’s office picked him up from there.
Outside of the office, McCall has served as vice president of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League Young Professionals and helped plan the 2021 MLK Day of Service with Westside Grows Together, which included a march, clean-up and a celebration.
When he’s not helping others, McCall is a co-sports anchor on DETV and a trombone player. He’s also engaged to a former DBT40 recipient.
Congratulations Jason, this is definitely a well deserved honor and I can’t wait to hear more about this when you are a guest on my podcast, “Out & About with Antionette”
