As a certified public accountant, native Delawarean Christopher Kobus understands the importance of devising a solid financial plan and how it can set up an organization for success.
He’s taken the same care in building a career and practice here, rising from a student to an IRS volunteer, a staff accountant to senior accountant, supervisor to manager at a Top 20 Delaware accounting firm.
Kobus helps his clients navigate constantly changing compliance rules and certifies that the work of nonprofits is in good faith of their mission while using donor funds appropriately. He specializes in closely held businesses, health care entities, low-income housing, and nonprofits.
Aside from his work, Kobus mentors younger accountants, answering their questions and guiding them in their careers, while also running the firm’s intern program.
Out of the office, Kobus serves on the Finance Committee for the Nativity Preparatory School, a tuition-free Catholic middle school for boys in Wilmington. He has also served with the Delaware Institute for the Arts in Education and the Delaware Contractor’s Society Young Executives Committee, where he volunteered at the food bank, performed highway cleanups, and served dinner at a men’s shelter in Dover.
When he’s not working or volunteering, Kobus is a foodie and coffee lover – he’s even taken a course on coffee appreciation.
