Britney Mumford has been up and down the East Coast for college and launching her career in activism. Her career spans national campaigns like organizing for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, statehouse races in Maryland as well positions with advocacy entities in Washington, D.C. But not only is home in Delaware – she says it’s a core part of her identity.
A product of the Caesar Rodney School District, Mumford is passionate about reforming Delaware’s education system and is using her years of political acumen to lead DelawareCAN. Through its action fund, DelawareCAN strives to make a difference in school board and state elections. Out of races targeted, two of three DelawareCAN-backed candidates won school board elections, and 10 out of 12 legislative elections.
In her personal time, Mumford also works with the Junior League to ensure women have access to period supplies throughout the state. This summer, she also was a “Big Sister” with the Boys and Girls Club.
Mumford is also the first female wrestling official in Delaware. She grew up watching wrestling and going to matches with her father. Four years ago, she started officiating elementary and middle school matches. She has been to five states, flying out to NCAA tournaments.
