Coming from a difficult home life, Brandy Walker knows how important it is to find a sympathetic ear and the tools to improve mental health. That’s why the Dover resident has devoted her professional life to mental health counseling – so she can act on her immense drive to help others.

Walker has extensive experience in mental health clinical and counseling work, as she’s spent eight years at various offices and organizations in Kent County. Notably, she spent a year serving as a mental health professional at the Capital School District, fulfilling the DelAWARE grant program – as well as recruiting mentors to help students.

But since March 2021, Walker has embarked on a new journey as owner and CEO of her own business. She launched Resilient Soul, with the goal to passionately help every person feel important – and heard – who comes through the practice’s doors.

Her other priority is to offer professional growth opportunities for those starting out in the field. Walker has started partnerships with other clinicians to create training curriculum to bridge gaps from student to intern, including those who are hired at her practice. Walker is often seen at community events throughout the area, as well working groups at Network Delaware and First State Educate.

Outside the office, Walker serves on the Dover Ethics Commission and the state’s Board of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency. She hopes to launch a nonprofit addressing homelessness in Delaware.
In her downtime, Walker loves to prank her two young children and to sing. She has professionally recorded background vocals for many artists in the past and used to direct the choir of her former church.
