Workplace: Blue Palm, LLC

Age: 37

Following in his wife’s footsteps, a 2019 DBT 40 winner herself, Caleb Rich is proud to be amongst the DBT40 crew as a business owner and patrol sergeant with the City of Dover Police. He graduated with a master’s in criminal justice with honors from Wilmington University. He also graduated from the FBI LEEDA Trilogy program and became one of 20 officers in Delaware to become a master instructor for POST, or Police Officer Standards and Training. Over time, he would also oversee and conduct the Citizen’s Police Academy for the city of Dover.

With his wife at the helm, the pair opened Blue Palm Salon in Dover and launched the state’s first sunless product line, acquiring their first wholesale client within the first month of that release. Rich said one of his favorite aspects of being a business owner is being able to give back to the community. He felt particularly led to community service when his brother passed away several years ago. As one of eight children, he says he understands the sacrifices one makes for their family. Losing his brother helped him realize the strength a family can possess, too, and he felt an immediate calling to improve the lives of those around him through multiple initiatives and impact projects within his personal and professional life.

Since opening in 2017, Blue Palm Salon has partnered with several organizations to help provide fundraisers, as well as scholarships for young women in Delaware. They have donated more than $3,000 to date through charitable donations. Rich is also a five-time Law Enforcement Torch Run participant benefiting Special Olympics Delaware, along with other runs for various organizations. He has been to 47 of the 50 states, visited the White House in 2019, played rugby at the University of Delaware and is now embracing the Disney Dad life.
