Nicole Magnusson’s life is full of valleys and peaks, professionally and personally. She spent some time in foster care both as a child and teenager. That experience helped guide her advocacy efforts to improve the system.
As a full-time student, she was working alongside former Gov. Jack Markell and the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative to extend foster care services to age 21.
As the first in her family to receive a four-year college degree, Magnusson worked with then-Lt. Gov. Matthew Denn and the Delaware Department of Justice. She then became a licensed financial advisor within a year of self-study and exams and took on a role at Ameriprise Financial Services. Today, as part of Ameriprise’s private wealth advisory practice, she manages 112 clients and also serves as the co-chair for the Financial Literacy Committee of the Black Empowerment Advisors Community Network (BEACN).
Magnusson believes in being the change she wants to see in the world. In the past, she served on various boards like Child Protection & Accountability Commission and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware. Today, she is the vice president of the New Castle Jaycees and actively provides financial literacy education through REACH Riverside.
