Laura Wisniewski learned the value of hard work from her mother, who was a single teen mom raising her daughter on the east side of Wilmington.

Wisniewski’s career in public service has grown quickly, starting in 2014 as an intern on Sen. Chris Coons’ re-election campaign and quickly becoming a deputy regional field director. She then worked as deputy chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long and director for the Delaware Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign for the 2022 election cycle, which saw widespread party victories.

In February, Wisniewski was named chief of staff to the 26-member Delaware House Majority Caucus, where she provides guidance and assistance to lawmakers to ensure that their legislative priorities are accomplished throughout the session and their message reaches communities.

Through her roles, Wisniewski has worked with the Behavioral Health Consortium to help direct programs to gaps in Delaware’s mental health and addiction services. She also led the launch of the Basic Needs Closet that provides critical items for a student to succeed in the classroom, such as clothes, hygiene products, and school supplies. She has also worked over the last six years to ensure grant funding for the program and securing additional corporate support to serve 45 of Title 1 schools across the state.

When she’s not working, Wisniewski loves reading, yoga or spending time with her fiancé Justin and stepdaughter Eva.
