Title: Owner
Workplace: Kim Benton Agency, Inc. (State Farm)
Age: 38
When Kim Benton first joined the State Farm family nearly 14 years ago, she was relieved to find an employer that would allow her to help others. Now, the mother of three heads up her own insurance agency and has committed her professional life to personal and leadership development.
Benton, a 2023 Leadership Delaware program fellow, is responsible for the agency’s administrative functions, as well as human resources, marketing and advertising, bookkeeping and customer-facing relations. She strives to train and motivate her team of eight employees while also growing the business and staying active in her community.
Before launching the agency in her hometown in 2015, Benton worked for State Farm as a front desk employee and office manager. Now she tries to always be involved in some type of education or leadership development program and serves as a business coach for new State Farm team members.
In addition to her professional endeavors — which include growing the agency two-fold since its opening and securing agency accolades — Benton is very active in her church and volunteers with Relay for Life, the Food Bank, the Arc of Refuge feeding ministry in Millsboro and as a mentor for the local Boys and Girls Club.
She also donates and supports many other charitable causes, including Autism Delaware, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, Millsboro Youth Police Academy and local school programs, just to name a few.
