Not only does Katie Honeywell know how to lead and manage a successful business, from strategic development and personnel management to on-site clinical support, but she’s also dedicated to developing trauma-informed training programs for the next generation of providers. As the business development director of Trauma Specialists of Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania working out of Lewes, she handles hiring, strategic development and building relationships with other businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. She also oversees grant applications and financial reporting, as well as developing therapeutic and wellness services guided in part by market research and analysis.
Honeywell is a licensed counselor in Delaware and Maryland who previously worked as a therapist and senior clinician for several health centers in Delaware and Maryland. Since April 2021, Honeywell has also worked as a consultant for the Trauma Specialists Training Institute, offering research-based training programs that promote trauma healing. The Frostburg State University graduate holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology, a bachelor’s degree in psychology and multiple certificates in her field.
Along with work, she strives to give back by participating in a variety of causes from collecting school supply donations to hosting “Fireside Chats” with stakeholders to discuss innovations in mental health. She is also an active member of 100 Women Who Care Southern Delaware and of the Sussex Health Coalition’s behavioral health task group. In 2024, she partnered to create the Mental Health Awareness Campaign for employers in the area. In her free time, the mother of two enjoys spending time with her wife and family during reunions she organizes, traveling (especially to the Outer Banks) and spending time in nature. Other interests include ice cream, stained glass and running half marathons.
