Title: Senior Manager of Software Engineering
Workplace: Capital One
Age: 30

In today’s working world, turnover is bound to happen and is difficult to solve. But for Eric Schultz, it’s also a sign of achievement.
As Capital One’s software engineering senior manager, he manages three teams and judges his success based on his team’s success. More than half his reports have either been promoted or taken leading roles in the last two years.
In his own workflow, Schultz and his team focus on building automated tools for the banking giant to ensure all applications are secure, compliant, and resilient. He has led several large-scale projects at Capital One in his five years at the company, including building an automated security tool that integrates with the company’s project management software. With that tool in hand, Capital One teams are using cutting-edge cybersecurity practices. Schultz received Capital One’s highest tech award for that project: the Chief Information Officer Elite Award.
Schultz has also worked on cloud technologies, which have granted three U.S. patents for their innovative approach to customer service solutions. He also created an enterprise-wide cloud security platform that ensures customer data and information is secure in Capital One’s stores.
Outside of the office, Schultz teaches programming at IT Works, helping students gain marketable skills for future employment.
