When Cortney Milner first started her career in finance for a small firm in West Chester, Pa., she admits she was intimidated by working in a male-dominated field. But she was determined to rise to the top, she eventually was promoted twice at the same firm. In 2012, she moved to Veery Capital, an independent financial planning firm for people and medium-sized businesses in Delaware.
In her first year, the firm merged with another company and moved to Delaware, and Milner was tasked with overseeing the renovations and technology overhaul on top of moving client accounts. In 2018, Veery Capital opened a new independent registered investment advisor, and Milner once again led the transfers of more than 200 accounts.
Fast forward a few years, Milner was asked to become a partner by the time she was 34 years old. With a specialty in retirement planning, she helps lead a 401(k) book of business with $400 million in assets.
She along with the company gives back to local organizations. In particular, the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware received new gym floors and bleachers with their assistance. Milner adopts a family during Christmas and sponsors a child annually to pay their way to summer camp. Through Rise Against Hunger, Veery Capital hosts an event to package 10,000 meals in a single night to be shipped around the world.
