When Mark Nauman founded his engineering consulting firm in 2019, it was the culmination of 12 years of experience in the industry.
Earlier in his career, Nauman attended ABC Delaware’s Leadership Institute, where he worked directly with many of Delaware’s most successful construction leaders. He was able to learn from their experiences to help form the foundation of his own business venture.
As a part owner of Pilottown Engineering, the only full-service structural engineering firm in Sussex County, Nauman has made it a priority to build connections and collaborative opportunities with the local community. He plans to help expand and modify the firm so that it can meet the ever-evolving needs of Sussex County and the engineering consulting industry.
The firm is providing construction engineering services for a new, seven-story hotel with about 180 rooms on the riverfront of Camden, N.J. They are also designing a new 5,000-seat, nearly $35 million, multipurpose stadium that will be the home of the Fredericksburg Nationals Minor League Baseball team in Fredericksburg, Va.
Nauman is a board member of the Sussex County Crisis House and he volunteers and donates to the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity and to the Milton Food Pantry.
Outside of work and volunteering, Nauman enjoys spending time with his wife and their two daughters, who are shaping up to be the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers with their science-based projects and structures that they build out of Lego blocks and household materials.
