Q&A: Favorite thing about Delaware? “It is a small state with a big reputation.”

The Delaware Supreme Court is the highest court in the state. It has final appeal jurisdiction where criminal cases where sentences exceed some minimums, civil cases to final judgements and other orders for the Court of Chancery and others. Chief Justice Collins “CJ” Seitz serves as the Supreme Court’s administrative officer since he was sworn in 2019. He has been on the bench since 2015, when he was appointed by Gov. Jack Markell. Before his appointment, Seitz founded a corporate advisory and litigation firm, Seitz, Ross, Aronstam & Moritz LLP, where he routinely litigated commercial, corporate, and intellectual property cases before the Court of Chancery and the Supreme Court. He also served as a partner at Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz LLP, where he worked for 30 years.
